mother mother are you somewhere around
mother tell me what have you found
is the world still flat or round
is your daughter still safe and sound
mother mother you’ve been a toast
a perfect wife, a perfect host
a promise wasted, a chapter closed
a youth departed, a living ghost
mother mother can you hear me scream
in protest at your corroded dream
in sorrow at your faded theme
in disgust and in rage supreme
mother mother did you rear your child
to be lost into this jungle wild
did you raise him to be meek and mild
and so easily to be beguiled
mother mother can you sleep at night
when your own children are torn in fight
when they run scared from the truth of light
to sell your values in the name of might
mother mother i wish you were strong
i wish you could see where your children went wrong
they make you a day, they sing you a song
mother what's taking you so long?

hello sceptic!
thanks for recommending!
i'm all for optimism and looking ahead to the future!
but this was just my take on the reality of a lot of women - mothers included - in our society... a life spent trying to fit in, adjust, accomodate, sacrifice, be abused, lead a peripheral and marginalised existence ... vis-a-vis the glorified divinified mother-india or hallmark-card kind!
i guess it's a generic "scream" against shallow mothers' day effusiveness - nothing more sinister or pathetic, don't worry!! :-)
do stop by again! :-))

Hullo EW
What good is lamentation or recrimination? To build a life a new foundation is not needed. A forward looking stance and resolve to give the past a final burial is the stuff on which derailed lives are not just put back on rails but brought to the take off point for a flight into the future.
