raindrop, when she escaped the cloud
and fell to earth, sang out loud
and when she passed the horizon blue
she thought she might just dance for you
pirouetting down your fragile vein
along the hallway of your pain
she spun around your window eye
looking homeward to the sky
she paused a while on your charcoal lash
such graceful poise, just a hint of dash
then sailed down with the cheekbone ship
to land upon your trembling lip
and there she spread her arms out wide
and there you took her in your stride
lucky raindrop, sighed my jealous heart
to reach out where my entry’s barred.
